The word lien refers to liaison or connection. Here, that reference relates to the tradition of European hand craft and the emerging age of modernism. This original design by Laura Kirar offers a very light, very mixable architectural look. The top is flat cut walnut without a border, the frieze modest, and the legs themselves softened with a slight radius but otherwise simple.
That simplicity emphasizes the open look of the base-and particularly the dome stretcher borrowed from Josef Hoffmann. The result is a side table that excels in a room that might be a bit too visually crowded. It also works beautifully with a statement rug.
