She studied medicine at the University of Calgary in Alberta in her native Canada, but it was during this time she discovered her passion for creating and designing furniture. She enrolled in the School of Interior Design at Ryerson University in Toronto and was scouted by a design firm while she was still studying.

Her big break came in 2002. Candice Olson launched her first TV show that would go on to run for eight years. Building on her success, she launched a second program that would delve deeper into her as a designer, her process, and what inspired her designs.
